But true communion with God is being silent and waiting for God to speak a message to us! We need to allow God to talk to and through us, telling us what to do!  This means that some of our actions will be radically changed!  This means that personal agendas will be surrendered to the will of God.  This means that we will each be challenged to abandon our ideas and ideals in search of God’s will and purpose.

During monthly prayer meetings (the next one is January 15) we have the opportunity to come together as a church family and pray for  WPC, our ministries, our community, and our friends and families.  We also have time to be in silent communion with God, to seek the “still, small voice” that is often difficult to hear in our noisy world. This year I pray as we covenant together to read the scriptures daily and to pray daily for God’s Spirit to fall afresh upon us that we will also see more people involved in these corporate times of prayer.

Prayer is power. Cymbala finishes the main body of his book with these words: No personal or church situation is too hopeless for the all-sufficient power of the Holy Spirit. God will be no more eager to act tomorrow than he is right now. He is waiting for us to take his promises seriously and go boldly to the throne of grace...When we do so, God will back us up with all the resources of heaven (page 182).

Let us boldly go to God’s throne each day ~ offering our hearts and lives to his transformative power!                                                             Pastor Beth
